2022 Junior Aussie Croquet tournament

Four TCCC Junior members and their senior member partners braved the drizzly, cold, damp conditions to compete in the club’s first Aussie Croquet event.  First Place went to Flora Liutkeviciute, with partner Gloria Bensch, edging out Caroline Mandon and Susan Maher who took Second Place.  Laylah Blair with Betty Anderson, and Ivy Babuder with Michele McGuire were runners up.  Sally Bennet did a great job organizing the afternoon complete with hot cider and donuts to counter the chill in the air.  Along with Wendy Hope and Tournament director Terry Hunt, the day was a big success.  Parents and grandparents bundled up and watched from the hillside.  The photos which capture the smiles, and the enjoyment of the event were taken by Bob Harned.

If you haven’t experienced Aussie Croquet yet, hopefully you will next season.  It adds some of the strategy of American Six Wicket but without the complicated shots and rules.  The game has been gathering a lot of interest around the country, as it can be an alternative to Golf Croquet.  In spite of, or perhaps because of, the fact that there are no officially sanctioned rules, each club is able to make the game their own.  The TCCC version of the rules can be found here on the website at the bottom of the Home page.  It only takes two pages to list them.

Don't miss the event details after the photos.
